NEW DELHI: Oct 7, 6 more antireservationists died after a self-immolation attempts and 3 more attempted suicide but the northern states hit by the antiquota stir remained mostly peaceful Sunday with hardly any violent incidents.
Nishi Man Chandra a student from Ferozepore who set herself on fire on Oct 1, died of burns in a local hospital. The body was cremated under tight security.
In the capital Monika Chaddha, a 19 yrs. old student suffered 90% burns after a self-immolation attempt.
In her statement to the police in hospital Monika said she was ending her life in protest against the govt’s reservation policy.
Manisha Sharma, a student from Kurukshetra in Haryana, set herself on fire and suffered, suffering about 30% burns. Her condition was stated to be serious.
