LUDHIANA: Six policemen, including two assistant sub inspectors posted in Sahnewal police station near Ludhiana were killed on Friday night by truck bore militants at Khant Manpur village in Ropar district. According to the police, the slain cops were coming from Chandigarh in a private tempo when they were intercepted by the militants who were in a truck and sprayed with bullets around 7:30 pam, the fleeing militants also took away their arms and ammunition.

The victims have been identified as Santokh Singh and Sukhwinder Singh (both ASIs), Maha Singh, Chaman Lal and Bhajan Singh (Gil special police officers) and Darbara Singh, home guards jawan, After their postmortem was performed, their bodies were sent to their respective homes on Saturday.
