NEW DELHI: The bill to repeal the 59th constitutional amendment, passed by parliament when the Congress (I) government was in power was sent to president Ramaswamy Venkataraman on January 5 and he gave assent to the measure the next day, an official spokesman told newsmen Wednesday.

Congress I general secretary K.N. Singh Tuesday quoted the president as saying that he has yet to receive the bill.
