LUCKNOW ; Fifty-six people were killed in two bomb explosions at Rudrapur in Nainital district of Uttar Pradesh, Latest official reports here said Thursday.

Earlier reports said 41 people had died and more than 100 others were injured in the two blasts which occurred during a Ram Lila function and at nearby hospital in the township late Wednesday night. The toll mounted to 56 when 14 succumbed to their injuries in hospital Thursday, sources said.

Another twenty-three of the injured are reported to “very critical”, the sources said.

The explosions, believed to be operated by remote control devices, occurred first at the venue of the Ram Lila and later at the hospital where the victims were taken.
