SRINAGAR: Seventeen persons including five militants and four members of a family were killed and seven others sustained injuries in continued violence in the Kashmir valley between Saturday March 5th and Sunday evening

Meanwhile shops and business establishments in Srinagar and rest of the Valley reopened on Sunday after a daylong hartal on Saturday in response to the call given by pro-Pakistan Jamiat-ul Mujahideen. The outfit had called upon people to observe the day as the day of accession with Pakistan on Saturday.

A teenaged girl Mona was wounded in a grenade explosion at Hawala in Srinagar on March 2 and succumbed to her wounds in the hospital on Saturday evening. Three persons identified as Abdul Rashid Manzoor Ahmad and Mohammad Ramzan was killed when security forces returned fire after they were ambushed by the militants at village NawbalKulgam in Anantnag district official reports reaching here said.
