CHANDIGARH, India: Five persons including two in fake encounters were killed in Amritsar district and five Sikh freedom fighters were arrested in District Gurdaspur during the last 24 hours in Punjab. In the thickly populated area of Amritsar city, some persons were having a dispute with a woman when S.P. of the city, Mr. Baldev Singh who was just passing from that street, tried to intervene. On finding him, some people suddenly opened fire on him which resulted in killing his gunman, Constable Sukhdev Singh at the spot. But S.P. escaped unhurt. Meanwhile, one more per son was killed during the cross fire whom they could not identify but
termed him as a freedom fighter.
One person was arrested.
