Six Killed, 24 wounded bomb blasts in Punjab CHANDIGHARH: A Congress I poll campaigner was among six People killed while at least 24 People were injured in two powerful bomb blasts in the strife tom Northern Indian State of Punjab since Thursday night,

Militants hurled a stick bomb on group of election campaigners at Nabha in Patiala District night injuring 16 people.

The second bomb explosion took place in the Ram Bagh locality in Amritsar, injuring eight people.

Seven of the injured are reported to be in a serious condition.

A report from Amritsar said militants lobbed the bomb on a crowd emerging from a cinema eater and escaped on scooter.

Meanwhile, security forces were put on maximum alert in the neighboring state of Haryana following escalation in violence buy militants in the State.

According to reports two militants were spotted in Ambala, Haryana, and when challenged by Police they opened fire. Police chased them to the nearby air force station where one of them in defied as Nirvair Singh of Ropar tried to commit suicide by consuming cyanide and shooting himself,

Patiala Police also arrested a suspected militant, Shadi Ram, along with some weapons. Three others were nabbed from Punjab during this period.
