COLOMBO: More than 44 people were killed in continuing clashes in the northeastern part of Sri Lanka military sources said.

Among the killed were at least 15 soldiers’ nine militants and 20 civilians.

Security forces sustained the casualty when two army patrols one at Tiniyai and another at Thoppur were attacked by the LTTE killing 15 soldiers.

Security forces killed one LTTE militant at Maviddapuram near Palaly in Jaffna Peninusla and another in Ampara districtin Thet eastern province.
