DHAKA(PTI): At least 40 people were injured in a violent clash between some villagers and workers of the student wing of fundamentalist Jammat-E Islami on the outskirts of southern city of Khulna, Press reports here said Oct.31.

The clashes, on Saturday, ensued when the villagers tried to chase a group of Islami Chhatra Shibir activist who were reportedly having arms training inside a mosque, Bengali daily, “Ajker Kagoj” said.

 

As the villagers approached the mosque the young fundamentalists attacked them, injuring 25 people but when the villagers re grouped some of the Chhatra Shibir activists jumped from the first floor of the mosque. Ten of them were injured in the fall.

The villagers caught 10 Shibir activists and beat them severely, Two Chhatra Shibir workers were also arrested, the report said.
