CHANDIGARH: Four militants and an assistant sub inspector were killed, while three militants were arrested in Punjab.
ASI Gyan Singh was killed in a fire fight with militants near Begowal village in Kapurthala district March 28. The militant escaped.
The security forces gunned down three militants identified as Amrik Singh, Jaswinder Singh and Gurdarshan Singh in an encounter near Mallanwala Pattan village in
Hoshiarpur district Saturday, One 303 rifle, one single barrel gun, one country made pistol and three detonators were recovered from the slain militants.
In another encounter, the security forces shot dead an unidentified militant near Gazal village in Tam Taran police district early Sunday. One pistol and some cartridges were recovered from the site of encounter.
The security forces arrested one militant each from Sangrur, Ropar and Bathinda districts.
