COIMBATORE: A least 39 persons including nine children were drowned when flash floods from a jungle steam swept past a group of thatched houses on the banks of Bhavani river near Mettupalayam town, about 40km from herein the southern Indian state of Kerala Nov.9.
Police sources said bodies of 10 victims have been received so far.
The victims, mostly women and children were said to be residing the thatched houses in the low lying areas along forest stream, two km from Metupalayam town
