The gunmen also set afire four Punjab roadways buses and 25 kiosks at a bus stand in Batala district on Wednesday night.
Shanti Sarup a local Congress I leader, was shot dead by two men in Patiala district of the state on Thursday.

Meanwhile militants released two brothers related to a Punjab police inspector posted in the intelligence staff at Jalandhar Sunday. Both were kidnaped from their house in Jalalabad village of Amritsar district a few days ago.
One Hazari Lal Bishnoi of Mehravan village in Ferozepore district was gunned down by armed men late Saturday.
In another incident in the same district, gunmen shot dead one Puran Singh in Sada Mauja village late Saturday,
So called Khalistan Commando Force (KCF) militant, Gurdev Singh and an unidentified man were killed in an “encounter” with security forces near village Bhalali in Faridkot district.
The bullet riddled body of a youth was picked up by the police near a drain on the outskirts of village Bhikhiwind in Tarn Taran district.
Police also recovered two more bullet riddled bodies, one of them identified as that of Sukha from near village Guzarpura in Batala police district. Police said the two were killed because of inter gang rivalry.
More than 900 persons have been killed in Punjab this year alone.
