LUDHIANA: Three Youth Congress workers were gunned down and 10 injured on Sept.23, two of them seriously, by militants near the Sherpur bypass bridge on the GT road here. The Youth Congress workers who belong to Bhullarai village near Phagwara were on their way to Delhi to participate in a rally of the All India Youth Congress at the Red Fort on Friday, They were travelling in a bus.

According to police sources the Youth Congress activist shad come to the Sherpur Chowk in their bus to take their meals when the militants opened fire at them, There were 45 to 50 persons in.one bus and another 25 in the second bus.

Around 11 pm when some of the occupants of the bus were standing outside the bus they were fired at. The assailants entered the bus and sprayed bullets resulting in the death of three persons on the Spot. The dead were identified as Maluk Chand, Amrik Chand and Kuldip Kumar (all residents of Bhullarai),

The injured are Mohan Cal, Balbir Chand, Sham Lal, Hisham Lal, Roop Lal, Surinder Kumar, BaibirLal, Jagdish Lal, Buta Singh and Sat Pal (all resident of Bhullarai).
