PATNA: Three Sikhs from Chandigarh Balkar Singh, Nishan Singh and Manjit Singh were reportedly lynched to death last week by a Hindu mob suspecting them to be involved in a bank daceity in which Dhambad district police chief Randhir Verma was killed.
The police have come out with contradictory reports about the incident, It first talked of one dacoit being killed on the spot and two others being captured. In fact, the Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner, Afzal Amanullah, also confirmed that two had been overpowered and they were being i interrogated. But subsequently it was officially stated that the three Sikhs from Chandigarh who were engaged in transport business in that area had been Lynched by a mob.
