NEW DELHI (PTI): At least 29 persons were killed and several others injured in cracker related fire accidents indifferent parts of the country on the Diwali day reports received here said.
In the worst Diwali disaster 25 people were killed and over 100 injured in a huge explosion inside a cracker shop at Jharia near Dhanbad in Bihar Oct.26 while two deaths were reported from Rajasthan and Delhi.
Seven bodies have been identified so far by relatives of the victims. According to the deputy commissioner 17 were completely charred in the Jharia biast.
Rescue officials feared that over 100 people might have been trapped under the debris spread over a large area. In the capital two persons were killed in explosions in cracker shops fire brigade sources said.
In East Azad Nagar an 18year-old youth was charred to death when an ignited rocket set ablaze a cracker shop where he was standing. In another incident in Jahangirpuri two cracker shops caught fire resulting in the death of a person. Five others received burn injuries.
Two persons were killed when a cracker shop caught fire at Abu road in Sirohi district in Rajasthan Sunday night official reports said Oct.26. The shop caught fire when a burning cracker fell on it.
The two persons working in the shop were trapped and died of suffocation.
