ISLAMABAD(PTI): At least 24 people were killed in two powerful bomb blasts in Sindh late at night on Jan.23 even as the new Pakistan army chief, Gen Abdul Waheed, declared that troops would continue their operation cleanup in the southern province as long as required by the Government while 12 people died at least 14 were seriously injured in the first blast, which took place in Latfabad subdivision, another 12 people were killed and 30 injured in the second explosion that occurred in nearby Hyderabad, three minutes later. Both the bombs, which were described as powerful explosive devices, were planted in old motorcycles. Unofficial reports have put the toll at around 30.
Eye witnesses said the explosions were so powerful that the limbs of the victims were tom apart
The Latifabad blast occurred in front of a hotel while the Hyderabad explosion took place close to a hospital. Reports said there was total confusion at the hospitals which were surrounded by law enforcement agencies and no one was allowed to enter the premises.
