COLOMBO: At least 20 suspected JVP activists or their supporters, were killed in separate incidents in the Sinhala majority central and southern parts of the island during the past 24 hours, officials reports received here said.

while 10 JVP activists were killed in a security operations in central Kundasale, eight bodies were recovered in southern Beliatta during the period.

”Death squads” of anti JVP vigilante groups were suspected to be responsible for the Beliatta killings.

Suspected JVP extremists killed a civilian in southern Hambantota and a Sri Lankan soldier in eastern Kalmunai, official reports here said.
