JABALPUR (PTI): On Aug.26, about 500 army soldiers, retaliating against the murder of their colleague, went on rampage in this central Indian town injuring 20 civilians in the melee.

The Jawans, armed with ultra-modem lethal weapons, also rectifier three shops, looted about half a dozen shops and beat up women folk and children causing panic among the inhabitants, official sources said on Friday.

The immediate cause of the attack was stated to be the murder of Jawan, Satveer, committed some time back in Sanjay Nagar locality of Jabalpur, which also houses an ordnance factory, the sources said,

An armed police force, led by additional superintendent of police Mukesh Jain, rushed to the site late on Friday night and brought the situation under control.
