LUDHIANA: The Punjab Sikh Lawyers Council (PSLC) and the Sikh Vichar Manch (SYM) warned the six “panthic” organizations to beware of the Centers trap aimed at disrupting unity of these Sikh leaders who had spearheaded the boycott of the February “92 state assembly elections in Punjab.
The two non-party Sikh groups also asked the AISSF (Manjit Singh) and Akali Dal (Mann) leadership to distance themselves from the pro-center elements around them who they said had earlier been close to the then Prime Minister Chander Shekhar.
The manch president Gurbhajan Singh Gill and the PSLC gencral secretary Mohinder Singh Grewal in a statement here said these elements had been hobnobbing with Chander Shekhar through the so-called coordination committee then set up by the AISSF on the pretext of “probing” the mind of the Center.
Another group of these elements was responsible for sending S.S.Mann to Delhi for talks at a time when there was no occasion to start the dialogue with a rootless person and the minority government the PSLC and SVM leaders added.
It is intriguing that the six panthic organizations had taken up the task of teaching Tohra a lesson for the boycott despite the fact that the Babbar Khalsa International had categorically claimed the responsibility of gunning down the Mann Akali Dal leader for not obeying their edict they added.
