SRINAGAR: Official reports Dee.1 said security forces handed over the bodies of Ghulam Mohammad Hajam and his son, Nazir Ahmad Hajam, to the Kupwara police station after they reportedly succumbed in the interrogation center Wednesday. The two were arrested from Aloosa-Kupwara on Sunday night. As the bodies reached Kupwara, the residents took to streets and protested against what they alleged as custodial deaths, the reports said.

Meanwhile, 10 people, five of them militants and security personnel were killed and 15 others nabbed while nine militants who surrendered at the Hazratbal shrine were released on Nov.30 in the Kashmir valley.

All the five militants were killed in gun-baules with security forces at Palhallan and Ningli in Baramulla district and Pandusa and Gund Rishi in the frontier district of Kupwara during search operations on Noy.30, an official spokesman told reporters here Dec, 1.

He said a security jawan was killed as militants fired a rocket on a security picket, lobbed grenades and opened fire on a BSF patrol at Chunti-Waliwar (Ganderbal), Bemina-Parampora, Khanyar, Miskeen Bagh (Srinagar), Bandipora (Barramulla) and Akramabad-Doda (Jammu re

Gion). Militants shot dead Fayaz Ahmad at Dari land Farooq Ahmad Mir at Dardpora-Payeen in the frontier district of Kupwara Tuesday night, the spokesman said.

 

The Spokesman said militants abducted three persons, including a woman, who were travelling in a taxi near Trehgam. No organization has claimed responsibility.

The spokesman also said that militants set on fire an AUQAF building at Katrasoo, housing a high school building, a middle school building at Anzwala in the Anantnag district of South Kashmir Tuesday night. They also set on fire the Govemment middle school, Dashan, the government middle school, Shuryan, the government high school, Gurmal and a panchayat at Darshanin Doda distriction Jammu region.
