NEW DELHI: Victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh mayhem which left thousands dead riots in Delhi are being harassed and denied justice by the procedural delays and indifferent attitude of Delhi Administration officials in their claims for compensation according to Mr. JS, Sital, general secretary of the Riot Relief and Rehabilitation Society.

He said that despite specific court orders and Government instructions, the victims were yet to receive their allotment of flats or compensation for commercial losses.

Mr. Sital pointed out that in spite of the directive by the High Court to the Director, Relief Operations that the victims must be allotted flats within six months of receiving their applications, not a single case has been finalized yet. Applicants are being asked to furnish additional documents for verification which are virtually impossible to obtain, he added.
