CHANDIGARE: Seventeen people including six freedom fighters and two special police officers were killed in Punjab on July 23.
In an alleged encounter security forces gunned down a Sikh who was not identified. near Matewal village in Taran Taran police district. His alleged associate escaped.
A report from Amritsar said that a bus was bumed down by four freedom fighters who evacuated all 50 passengers before burning it near Padri village.
