COLOMBO: LTTE militants ambushed another troop patrol killing at least nine soldiers, while troops killed seven militants in north eastern Sri Lanka during the past 24 hours.
Five soldiers were killed in a landmine blast on the Padaviya Pulmodai road, while four cops were killed in a militant ambush at Mahaoya area of eastern Ampara district, One cop was wounded in the ambush.
Government troops continued their onslaught on the militants in northern Vavuniya and destroyed a network of well-fortified bunkers in Mulaitivu district. Four militants were killed and five soldiers were wounded in the fight.
Troops also ambushed a group of militants at Chilavathurat area of northern Mannar killing three militants three other LTTE militants were killed in the ambush.
