PATNA: At least 15 persons were killed and several others injured in an armed clash between supporters of the Indian people’s front and the Mazdoor Kisan Sangh a private army of farmers in the eastern Bihar state on Tuesday official sources said.

Earlier reports said that 13 bodies had been recovered till Tuesday night from the Tishorke village in Patna district.

No arrests have been made so far.

The sources said here two platoons of the central reserve police force (CRPF) and 100 armed personnel of the Bihar police had been rushed to the area.

According to sources supporters of both organisations engaged in an exchange of fire. 15 people were killed and several others including a policeman injured in the firing which went on for over three hours.

The Masaurhi region in Bihar where the village is located has been a hot bed of extremist activities for a long time. The IPF and the Kisan Sangh have been on a collision course for gaining “power” in the area.

IPF sources however alleged that their supporters who were trying to enforce the “Bihar Bandh” were surrounded and attacked by the oval faction and the police.
