NEW DELHI (PTI): Thirteen army personnel were abducted from their camp by militants in Doda district of Jammu regain, while 21 people were killed in the valley from July 2638. Militants stormed into the General Reserve Engineering Force (GREF) camp at Paddar in Doda district and forced the personnel on duty there to accompany them, official reports in Srinagar said.
However, an official spokesman later claimed that they have been a let off by the captors.
The army personnel could not resist the attempt as they were: Sleeping when the attack came. The camp was looted of all its arms, ammunition, explosives and radio sets reports said. A border security force Jawan was killed by militants at Kaksaral locality of Srinagarina gun battle while other BSF personnel was killed in a similar incident at Rajorikadal, in downtown Srinagar. Three militants were killed in exchange of fire with the border security force at Batmaloo in central Srinagar. Later, the residents of the town held demonstrations alleging “fake encounter.”
