MADRAS: A total of 120 Tamil militants hiding in the southern state of Tamil Nadu and their 118 harbors had been arrested and about 40 hard-core LTTE men detained under the National Security Act (NSA) in the past two months India’s minister of state for home Subodh Kant Sahay said here on Thursday.
Sahay told reporters that the Tamil Nadu administration has proved to be “effective and impartial” in not aligning with any political party or group.
The Tamil militants are hiding in the state following on going combing operations launched by the Sri Lankan security forces in north-east of the country to flush out them from there.
After wide-spread allegations that former state government headed by Karunanidhi had given political protection to the militants the stale government was dismissed and the president’s rule imposed check “Tamil militant’ activites.
