NEW DELHI: Twelve countries, including India, will fight it out for top honors in the third Inter Continental Cup Hockey Tournament, to be held at Shivaji Stadium here from November 1 to 12, India have been clubbed with Japan (Asian silver medalists and Asia cup bronze medalists). USA (84 Olympic bronze medalists), Australia, Malaysia and Spain in pool ‘B’ while pool ‘A’ consists’ of South Korea (Asian gold medalists and Olympic silver medalists), China, France, Ireland, Italy and Scotland.
The two top teams from each pool will qualify for the semifinals.
The top four of the tournament will qualify for the seventh women’s World Cup to be played in Sydney from May 2 to 13 next year. Eight nations who have already qualified for the Sydney meet are: Argentina, Australia, Canada, England, West Germany, Holland, New Zealand and USSR.
