FRESNO, CA: Federal authorities aim the attempting to pay bribes to obtain immigration and Indian citizens in the Valley
As the result of an investigation in which an undercover a great posed as a corrupt immigration official, arrest warrants were issued in U.S. District Court in Fresno for at least 12 people. Several arrests were made this week in Fresno and Los Angeles.
The organization surfaced in late 1990 when a Fresno man, Balbir Singh, called on an immigration consultant who was cooperating with immigration authorities, according to affidavits filed by Ronnie Dunkin, a special agent for the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service.
Dunkin said Singh and others said they were willing to pay 5500 to 1,000 a piece for papers granting immigration amnesty to un-documented aliens not qualifying for legal status.
One man in the operation said Singh had brought in 300 people from his village in Pakistan,
Another man, Gupi Sangha, paid the undercover agent $2,500 ta process three bogus amnesty applications, and Jarnail Shoker paid $10,000 on behalf of 10 immigrants, the affidavits say.
