CHANDIGARH: The tall claim made by the Punjab Director General of Police Kanwar Pal Singh Gill that militancy has been finished in Punjab was belied Feb.7 as 11 persons were killed and several others were injured in a powerful crude bomb in the industrial town of Ludhiana Monday after noon
The Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) reported to be experts in handling and producing the crude bombs is stated to be behind the blast police believe. The trucks body itself and the iron junk loaded in it increased the force of the crude bomb twice or thrice and it killed its occupants and whosoever area its radius. Parts of human bodice and limbs were found scattered 100 square meters.
The blast occurred in a truck (public carriage) loaded with junk material while it was stopped by the Police near a police post and an octroi point on the out-skirt of the most populated industrial city.
Among the killed include a little child and three women.
The ill-fated (ruck was coming from the Focal Point area after loading junk and when it reached near the Octroi Point it was stopped by the Police which also had pegged its tents nearby As soon as the truck stopped the blast occurred killing all its occupants including the driver identified as Amarjit Singh
Others killed were the junk loading laborers who were occupying the truck to unload it and some of those who were standing near the truck while stopped near the Octroi Point. These killed have been identified 45 Ram Bilas Lala Joginder Singh Amur Singh Bitu (3 title child) three ladies Banio Guddo and Neelam
This is second major blast incidence in the state during the month of February Earlier crude blast had occurred on February Ist and it took the lives of three persons but the Stale police underplayed the incident.
