SRINAGAR(PTI): As many as 109 militants and 13 army personnel were killed last month m the insurgency ridden Kashmir valley of India’s northernmost border state of Jammu and Kashmir, an official spokesman said on Jan.17.

Denying reports broadcast by radio Pakistan that 77 army personnel were killed during December 1992, the spokesman said radio Pakistan communed to “give false and exaggerated” reports highlighting the activities of militants in the valley and deliberately playing down their losses.

“Radio Pakistan totally omits the acuities of the militants as a result of which peaceful citizens suffer and which is against the norms of civilized behavior,” he said.

Meanwhile, there was not let up in the situation in the valley where two persons were killed and seven suspected subversives nabbed in Separate incidents overnight Saturday.

Militants also looted over rupees three hundred thousand from a cashier in the forest department in Kupwara distraction Saturday. The money was meant for distribution of salaries among the employees.

Police picked up a bullet riddled body of a 60yrold man in Bijbehara on the Snnagar Jammu national highway, an official spokesman said. Another body was recovered at Narkara in Badgam district.
