COLOMBO: More than 100 LTTE militants and several soldiers were killed in two major gun battles in northern Sri Lanka on Nov 22 in renewed clashes between government forces and the Tamil Tigers.
At least 75 militants were killed in Mankulam in northern Mullaitivu district after LTTE attacked army personnel killing four soldiers and wounding 30, a defence ministry communique here said. Six of the injured soldiers are in a critical condition.
In another incident 26 militants were killed at Tilipillai and Kattuvan areas of northern Jaffna Nov 22. Three soldiers were also killed.
