CHANDIGARH: About 100 companies of the Central Reserve Police Force will soon be taken out of Punjab to be deployed for election duty in the former four BJ Pruled states, according to official sources. Punjab will thus be left with 150 CRPF companies. Armed men deployed with politicians and bureaucrats and at canals and bridges will be thinned. About 18 months ago the number of companies posted in Punjab by India was 600. About 70 companies were withdrawn last year in the wake of Ayodhya developments.
