NEW DELHI: Rajesh Khanna Congress-I nominee for the New Delhi Lok Sabha seat said he was getting “enthusiastic welcome” from the electorate and was confident of trouncing his main rival LK Advani of the right wing BJP.

“The people’s response during my tours was beyond expectations and very encouraging. My voters are intelligent and I am quite sure of victory” he said.

Khanna said he had already covered 85% of his constituency and was still having “a punishing” 18 hours canvassing a day. Rajiv Gandhi will campaign for him in the constituency on Friday.

The actor denied reports about was an aspirant. On whether he would go back to Bombay after the elections Khanna said “irrespective of the election result lam going to stay here and work.
